Evan Lewandowski is a talented winemaker based in Utah who makes natural wines under the label Ruth Lewandowski. He crafts this all-Piedmontese varietals wine with full carbonic maceration adopting a low intervention approach in the cellar. Evan doesn't inoculate (industrial yeast) and doesn't use acidity correctors, tannin or water. Feints is unfined and unfiltered.
His winemaking philosophy is based on the cycle of death and redemption, in the physical and the spiritual realms. The name Ruth is not from any of Evan’s female family members but from one books in the Bible, the book of Ruth – Evan’s favorite.
Evan believes that: “Death is, indeed, the engine of life. Nothing that is alive today could be so without something having died first. This is the nature of our universe, of our planet, of our soils, plants, and ultimately you and I. The labels for all three wines are likely making a little bit more sense now, the death of each animal and the life springing forth because of it.”
